An extra fine, cross-cut carbide. The cutting surface of these carbides has a special design that makes them last longer with a more consistent cut throughout the life of the bur. The carbide head is fitted over the stainless steel shank and then soldered together. This makes for much a much stronger instrument because the shank is actually inside the head of the bur.
